Christian Fleetwood 1840-1914
A free black from Baltimore, Maryland received the Medal of Honor during the Civil War. Fleetwood enlisted in the 4th Regiment United States Colored Infantry in 1863. Because he was so well-educated, he received an immediate promotion to the rank of Sergeant Major.
